Bring your organisation into the room
AHRIFF has no subscription and no membership fee. Attendance is by invitation from the organising committee, and open to any organisation that funds or invests in health research, innovation, manufacturing or delivery in Africa.
What membership gives you
Six reasons the majority of attending organisations come back every year.
Meet the funders you overlap with
In 2025, 100% of delegates made new potential partnership connections. The room is deliberately small enough that everyone can be met over three days.
See what already exists
Before committing to a new programme, find out which continental platform, training pipeline or surveillance network already covers it — and who is funding it.
Shape the call-to-action sessions
Members nominate the priority challenges that become call-to-action sessions, and the topics that become satellite meetings.
Join a community of practice
The drug manufacturing group has met continuously since 2022; the diagnostics financing group formed in 2025. Both are open to funders active in the space.
Get the narrative report
Every edition produces a full narrative report with the outcomes, the commitments and the complete list of participating organisations.
Co-design instruments
Pooled funds, demand guarantees and blended structures start as conversations between funders who trust each other. This is where those conversations happen.
Register your interest
Tell the secretariat about your organisation and what you fund. The organising committee reviews expressions of interest ahead of each annual meeting.
Who qualifies
Organisations that deploy capital — grants, concessional finance, equity, debt or procurement commitments — into health research, innovation, manufacturing or delivery on the African continent.
What is expected
A willingness to share portfolio priorities openly with other funders, a senior representative with decision-making authority in the room, and follow-through on the call-to-action sessions after the meeting.
Cost
There is no membership fee. Participating organisations cover their own travel and accommodation for the annual meeting.
Not a funder?
Researchers, entrepreneurs and implementers are not the primary audience for the Forum, but the secretariat can point you to the funder programmes most relevant to your work. Use the contact page.
Common questions
Is there a membership fee?
No. AHRIFF has no subscription and no membership fee. Participating organisations cover their own travel and accommodation for the annual meeting.
How is the invitation list decided?
The organising committee, coordinated by the South African Medical Research Council, reviews expressions of interest ahead of each edition. The majority of attending organisations are repeat participants, complemented each year by African Partners Collective members and new funders.
Can more than one person from my organisation attend?
Usually one senior representative per organisation, so that the room stays small enough for everyone to be met over three days. Larger delegations are considered where an organisation is contributing to several sessions.
We fund health in Africa but are not based on the continent. Can we join?
Yes. The 2025 meeting drew agencies from more than 20 countries across six continents. What matters is that your capital reaches African health research, innovation or delivery.
Can we contribute remotely?
Yes. In 2025 a further ten funding agencies contributed through pre-recorded presentations and interviews. Tell the secretariat when you register your interest.
Can we host or propose a satellite meeting?
Satellite meetings are how communities of practice get dedicated time — the drug manufacturing group and the 2025 diagnostics financing meeting both began this way. Proposals go to the organising committee through the contact page.
